Adddate:2021-08-25 10:02:37

IP is the abbreviation of IngressProtection. The IP rating is the degree of protection against the intrusion of foreign objects in the enclosure of electrical equipment. The source is the standard IEC60529 of the International Electrotechnical Commission. This standard was also adopted as the American national standard in 2004.
In this standard, for the protection of electrical equipment enclosures against foreign objects, the format of the IP rating is IPXY, where XY is two Arabic numerals, the first marking number X indicates the level of protection against contact and foreign objects, and the second marking number Y indicates waterproofing. Protection level.

For example, as shown in the figure: Wanda’s wall lamp product 3028, top and bottom photos: 3W*2, IP54, which means that the product’s dust-proof level is 5, dust-proof, and cannot completely prevent dust intrusion, but the amount of invading dust is not Will affect the normal operation of the electrical; the waterproof level is 4, to prevent the intrusion of splashing water, and prevent the intrusion of splashing water from all directions.
The first number indicates the range of equipment resistance to dust, or the degree to which people are protected from hazards in a sealed environment. I represents the level of preventing solid foreign objects from entering, and the highest level is 6;

The second number indicates how waterproof the device is. P represents the level of preventing water ingress, and the highest level is 8.

The specific protection level can refer to the following table.
